Blaming Others – It’s All Your Fault! 5 Tips To Stop Blaming Others

Want to know how you can STOP BLAMING OTHERS? Maybe it is ALL YOUR FAULT? Here’s 5 tips to get over the blame game today.

Hey my friend,

I have mentioned that I believe there are a few phrases that hold us back in life like:

It’s too late for me

I’ll do it tomorrow

I’m not good enough

Now I am adding a few one to this list – IT’S ALL HIS OR HER FAULT!

I know that at times, you may go through challenging experiences in life.

You may find yourself wondering how you ended up in a certain place, physically or emotionally.

What did you do to deserve this?

What did you do wrong? (Answer – you have done nothing wrong!)

At these times, confronting your own choices can also feel super challenging.

Indeed, rather than taking responsibility for your own actions, you may find it easier to see where others were wrong.

But it’s time to stop pointing fingers my friend.

Blaming others for the way your life is right now may feel like an acceptable response for coping with life’s curve balls but it is DOING YOU NO FAVORS.

When you point the finger at others, you may feel initially soothed by the idea that you haven’t made any mistakes in the situation.

It wasn’t me!

I’m not to blame!

Eventually, you’re just left feeling powerless, because blaming others takes away your sense of your own power.

I mean, here’s the thing you can’t change other peoples’ actions – only your own.

But if you think other people hold the power to impact your life (while you hold NONE) that is a recipe for disaster!

So, my friend, you need to figure out how to pick up and go on with life.

The best way to do this is to STOP blaming others and resolve the situation within yourself.

Consider these ideas to stop blaming others and regain your own power:

BLAMING OTHERS

TIP # 1 – Take complete responsibility for your own life.

Whether you’re married, single, have kids or are childless, acknowledge that only you decide how your life is going to manifest.

It’s all about you.

YOU GET TO DECIDE!

  • Although you might have once enjoyed blaming someone else (e.g.: your mother, father, boss, partner, stranger, government etc.), now that you know what the issues are, it’s your responsibility to take ownership and fix them.

  • Your life is the way it is because of your reactions to the events outside of you. Take ownership.

  • From here on, consider it a cop-out when you blame someone else for the choices you make. What if you just accept that hey, maybe it is my fault?

  • Maybe it is my attitude that impacted my results. Maybe it is my reaction that impacted everything else that followed.

  • Admittedly, this is bad news and good news at the same time. After all, if you want your life to change and you believe you’re responsible for it, this means that you hold all the power you need to make your life just the way you want.

  • This also means you have no one else to blame but yourself. So it’s time to step up to the plate and own your mistakes.

TIP #2 – Learn from the past.

Let’s take a trip back in time and consider a few specific incidents from your past when you blamed another person for your choices.

How did those situations turn out in the end?

Did you lose a friend?

Did you stay stuck and angry for way too long?

Rarely does anything positive come from blaming another person for your own situation.

TIP # 3 – Say you’re sorry.

If you have told someone in the past that they were responsible for your issues or problems – because HEY IT WAS THEIR FAULT! – it may be time to set things right and apologize for the comments you made.

This step is important because one of the major ways to cease blaming others is to acknowledge your errors and simply say:

I’m sorry, I made a mistake, you weren’t in fact to blame, because I had the power to act in whatever manner I wanted to myself.

  • In order to change what you’re doing, you must recognize your mistakes, recognize when you were pointing fingers and refrain from doing so again in the future.

TIP # 4 – Think before you blame.

If you catch yourself blaming someone else for a situation in your life, take the time to really think through what has happened.

What if nothing really has gone wrong?

What if this is a learning experience you need to have in life?

What if it is a blessing in disguise?

Ponder the situation thoroughly before saying anything aloud.

Ask yourself what really happened.

Who did what?

What was your own part in this?

How did you react?

What were your options?

How could you respond in the future to change the outcome?

  • Give yourself plenty of time to process a situation. This way, you won’t be compelled to say something dumb and thoughtless out of frustration.

TIP # 5 – Seek professional guidance.

Seriously there’s no shame in asking for help if you can’t seem to shake the blame game.

If you find yourself constantly caught in a vicious, unproductive cycle of pointing the finger at others for your own life situation, it might be useful to obtain some counseling to help you find your way out.

In the end, when you leave the blame game behind, when you stop pointing fingers at others, that is when your life truly becomes totally your own.

All the power you need is in your own hands my friend and the sky’s the limit when you stop blaming others and empower yourself to take your life back!
