INSPIRING LIFE SCHOOL PODCAST

EPISODE 48 TRANSCRIPT:

THE WORLD DOESN’T OWE YOU ANYTHING

Here I will be sharing with you a chapter from my book WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND? 50 Truth Bombs to Change Your Life.

The lessons from this book also form the backbone for my MINDFUL LIVING MASTER COURSE.

But today I am sharing with you a free chapter today because I believe so strongly that this is information that every person in this world would benefit from learning.

This book WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND is different from all the other personal development books.

It focuses less on “what you need to DO or CHANGE” to make your life super fabulous and more on “what you need to UNDERSTAND” to make your life more manageable and special.

If you find that you are always fighting things rather than living in peace and going with the flow, this book will highlight 50 truth bombs that you need to understand to free yourself from that constant pain, suffering and torment cycle.

This book is the wake-up call you desperately need.

To live well and have more clarity and understanding in our life, we really need to embrace these truth bombs.

So are you ready now to change your life?

Are you ready now to understand?

So here goes: the lesson or chapter today is called:

THE WORLD DOESN’T OWE YOU ANYTHING

Mark Twain once said: “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living.

The world owes you nothing. It was here first.”

One of the scariest things about our current society is that the youth of today are growing up to be an entitled generation.

When I was young, I expected nothing.

If I wanted money or clothes or anything special, I knew I had to work for it.

I was happy if someone was kind enough to throw me some craps.

I appreciated every second-hand gift and didn’t ever snarl at or question anything that was handed to me, advice included.

Nowadays kids seem to think everything should be handed to them on a silver platter.

They think life owes them something – like a career, an adoring relationship, physical beauty, perfect health and comfort.

They whinge and moan and complain when they don’t get an award, a gift, a position or anything they want but don’t have.

It’s time to stop being a baby, develop a backbone and start behaving like an emotionally mature grownup.

Be a responsible person.

If you want something – whether it’s happiness, wealth, power, success or love – you need to WORK for it yourself.

You are NOT entitled to anything until you have saved and paid for it yourself.

Life doesn’t owe you anything: not perfect parents or a perfect childhood, not even immunity from pain or problems, a house, a bed, a job or even a single meal.

If you haven’t sweated or struggled for something, why do you think you deserve it?

Really, why?

What makes you more special than previous generations who had to work hard for everything?

Entitlement is an epidemic in this day and age and it is up to parents to model and teach our children the attitude of gratitude instead.

Note these facts:

  1. You can’t always get what you want.

  1. You certainly don’t deserve anything you didn’t work for.

  1. You need to stop thinking like a victim.

  1. Take some personal responsibility instead of blaming life and other people for all the things you haven’t achieved.

  1. We don’t need to hear your stupid excuses. YOU don’t need to hear your stupid excuses, even if you think they are valid and true.

All those “poor me” excuses hurt you more than they hurt anyone else because they equal DENIAL.

Once you realise the truth – that the world doesn’t owe you anything – you can start to create your own happiness.

It is a GIFT to yourself when you acknowledge, accept and realise everything you DO have in your life needs to be earned.

It is also a sign of maturity so step up today and be prepared to stake your claim.

So, I hope you found this mini episode to be helpful.
