Thoughts To Ditch – Are You Guilty Of These Seven Deadly Thinking Sins?
Want to know which thoughts to ditch? Here are the 7 thoughts you need to avoid. Are you guilty of these seven deadly thinking sins?
Hey my friend,
When it comes to our thoughts, many people don’t realize the true power that their thoughts have over their life.
I mean, life would seriously be much more enjoyable if we could only recognize our poor thinking patterns and replace them with more positive thoughts.
Here’s the thing: negativity has a way of making its way into our thoughts and it largely goes unrecognized.
The most important first step is to notice these negative thoughts and eliminate them on the spot.
If you then replace them with positive thoughts, you’ll notice a tremendous change in every aspect of your life.
Do what you can to eliminate these deadly 7 thinking sins:
THOUGHTS TO DITCH
# 1 – “I’ll do it tomorrow.”
The truth is you’re never going to feel like doing what needs to be done.
We all fool ourselves into thinking there will be a better time in the near future.
Anything you’re putting off isn’t going to get any easier.
-
- The most successful people are very good at taking care of the most important tasks at hand. Some things are uncomfortable, and it’s necessary to push through that discomfort.
-
- Start with baby steps and build up your tolerance for discomfort! Do things that need to be done today not tomorrow!
THOUGHTS TO DITCH
# 2 – “I can’t do this. I can’t stick with anything.”
If you don’t think you can do something, you’ll probably prove yourself right.
This is especially true with the big stuff.
- Remember that it’s not about discipline. It’s really about focus and motivation.
- Tell yourself that you can do it. Remind yourself that it’s more about getting motivated and applying yourself consistently. Discipline is only a good tool in the short-term. Limit yourself to one big goal and get excited about it.
THOUGHTS TO DITCH
# 3 – Thinking that someone else’s success impacts you negatively.
It’s crazy to believe that only a limited number of people can be successful.
There’s room for everyone.
There isn’t a limited amount of success available in this world.
If you want to be successful, there is no reason why you can’t be too.
If you don’t reach for it, you just miss out on that slice of success that was set aside for you.
- Don’t be a person who just sits around, waiting for his or her dreams to fall into their lap. It doesn’t work like that. You need to get up and actively go get it. Repeat after me: You can be successful too.
- Did you know that when others do well you can be happy for them? You have the option to examine their success, be inspired by their story and learn from it. This will help you believe later that others will be happy when you’re successful too.
THOUGHTS TO DITCH
# 4 – “It’s too late for me.”
Oh my friend, I want you to ditch this one ASAP.
Like right now.
Please.
Yes, we all have missed opportunities from our past, but that doesn’t mean it’s ever too late.
Never, ever, ever, ever.
There are people in their 60’s who have attended medical school and law school.
There are others who don’t get married or have children until much later in life.
You get to do things on your own timeline.
Yes, some things do take a longer amount of time to achieve, but that doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen.
If will only never happen, if you never get started or if you give up too soon.
It’s not too late at all. You just don’t know yet what you are capable of. Mahatma Gandhi
It’s never too late to be what you might have been. George Eliot
THOUGHTS TO DITCH
# 5 – “I’ll never be successful.”
Guess what?
Everyone fails at something along the way to success.
Failure is in fact a stepping stone to success.
So this idea that “I’ll never be successful” is NOT a helpful one for you to hold onto.
Ditch it today.
The truth is failure can be the best way to learn.
But focusing on your failures just causes you to feel bad all the time.
Focus your attention on your successes.
- Look back over your past and remember all the times you were successful. Make a list of your past successes and add your new successes to the list as they happen.
- Don’t wait for opportunities to arise – you need to go out there and create them.
- Success doesn’t come to you. You go to it. The key to success is to focus on your goals and not your obstacles.
- Push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you. The best view comes after the hardest climb.
There are no limits to what you can accomplish, except the limits you place on your own thinking. Brian Tracy
THOUGHTS TO DITCH
# 6 – “Why is this happening again?”
Great question but here’s the thing: unpleasant things sometimes do happen.
It’s a normal part of life.
The ups and downs.
The seasons of life.
However, just like our failures, if we spend our time dwelling on them, we make ourselves miserable.
- We all suffer at times, but that suffering passes and makes room for positive things. Avoid dwelling on the negative and look forward to better times.
Even situations that appear to be obstacles are actually opportunities – detours in the right direction. Gabby Bernstein
The pain of yesterday is the strength of today. Paulo Coelho
The moment you accept what troubles you’ve been given, the door will open. Rumi
Life will have terrible blows, horrible blows, unfair blows, doesn’t matter. And some people recover and others don’t. I think the attitude of Epictetus is the best.
He thought that every mischance in life was an opportunity to behave well, every mischance in life was an opportunity to learn something, and your duty was not to be submerged in self-pity but to utilize the terrible blow in a constructive fashion. Charlie Munger
What if the worst thing that happened to you turns out to be the best thing that has ever happened to you? Joe Dispenza
It does not matter what you bear, but how you bear it. Seneca
THOUGHTS TO DITCH
# 7 – “I can be happy once I have (accomplished or earned) ______.”
Sorry my friend but it’s unreasonable to hold yourself back from happiness until you’ve achieved some milestone.
Did you know that you can be happy now?
If you’re instead focused on some happiness marker that is always in the marker, you will notice that the marker keeps moving forward the close you get to it.
Trust me, once that goal is reached, there will be more goals that follow.
Putting off your happiness can become a harmful habit which is why I remember that you avoid it.
- It’s important to learn to be happy with where you are and what you have. That doesn’t mean you have to be completely satisfied, but you might as well be happy in the meantime.
In the end, negative thoughts have a tremendous impact on your happiness and success.
The important thing is to recognize these 7 negative thought patterns and squash them immediately.
Do your best to replace these negative thoughts with thoughts that are more realistic and supportive.
You’ll so, so be glad you did!
Much love,

Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens. Kahlil Gibran
Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words, keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits; keep your habits positive because your habits become your values.
